These were people who were putting up no resistance, many with no weapons, leaving in cars, trucks, carts, and on foot. The American armed forces bombed one endof the main highway from Kuwait City to Basra, sealing it off andthen bombed the other end of the highway, sealing it off. Theypositioned mechanized artillery units on the hill overlooking thearea and then, both from the air and the land, massacred every livingthing on the road. Fighter bombers, helicopter gunships, and armoredbattalions poured merciless firepower on those trapped in the trafficjams, backed up as much as 20 miles. One U.S. pilot reportedlysaid, It was like shooting fish in a barrel. That fateful stretchof road has since been dubbed the Highway of Death. In a report submitted to the Commission of Inquiry for theInternational War Crimes Tribunal, charges are made that those killedwere Palestinian and Kuwaiti civilians trying to escape the siege ofKuwait City and the return of Kuwaiti armed forces. The report claimsthat no attempt was made by U.S. military command to distinguishbetween military personnel and civilians.*****The Guardian newspaper in the UK has written of the 9000Iraqis killed by the RAF bombs in 1920, one of the 6 timesBritish oil interests have violated the people of Iraq in thelast 86 years.

There was no respect for youth when I was young, and now that I am old, there is no respect ...

http://www.maxioms.com/maxiom/53990

There was no respect for youth when I was young, and now that I am old, there is no respect for age--I missed it coming and going.

When at the close of each sad, sorrowing day, Fancy restores what vengeance snatch'd away.

http://www.maxioms.com/maxiom/15285

When at the close of each sad, sorrowing day, Fancy restores what vengeance snatch'd away.

More than any other time in history, mankind faces a cross-roads. Instead of the living, loving, self-manifesting God of the Old Testament Israel now took hold of the abstract idea of the unity, or rather the unicity, of God, as if that were God. Before -- when they lived in communion with God, when God was known to them as a Person, speaking, acting, blessing, who had chosen them, who was educating them, and who was going to fulfill His promises -- they declared, in opposition to the idolatrous nations that surrounded them, that this God of Israel was one God, that there are not many gods; but when they lost communion with God, in order to show what distinguished them from the nations of the earth, and especially from Christians, they emphasized that God in Himself was only one Person, and not as He is revealed to us in the Scripture: Sender, Sent, and Spirit. It is the boast of the modern Jewish synagogue that their great mission is to testify to the world the unity of God. But it is a striking fact that the Gentile nations who have, since the dispersion of Israel, been converted from idolatry, have been influenced, not by the synagogue, but by the congregations of Jesus Christ, and were baptized in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost... It is one thing to believe in justification by faith, it is another thing to be justified by faith; and so it is one thing to believe in God, who is One, and it is another to believe in the numerical abstraction, in the mere idea of unicity.

It was really good.
