Races and peoples, lo, we stand divided, And, sharing not our griefs, no joy can share; By wars and tumults love is mocked, derided His conquering cross no kingdom wills to bear. Envious of heart, blind-eyed, with tongues confounded, Nation by nation still goes unforgiven, In wrath and fear, by jealousies surrounded, Building proud towers which shall not reach to heaven. Lust of possession worketh desolations; There is no meekness in the sons of earth; Led by no star, the rulers of the nations Still fail to bring us to the blissful birth: How shall we love Thee, holy hidden Being, If we love not the world which Thou hast made? O give us brother-love for better seeing Thy Word made flesh, and in a manger laid.

We are seeing a lot of new buying of the Canadian dollar. At the very least, they can add a note of reality to what the minister offers. In many cases, the group takes up where the individual counseling left off, supplementing it or even eliminating it entirely. I have been repeatedly thankful that a group was available to give steady guidance who had made a fresh start in Christian living, but who still had a long way to go; this has been especially true in cases of loneliness, moderate emotional instability, inability to understand others, and need of continued guidance in the use of prayer and the Bible and the accepting and giving of love. In the nature of the case, no amount of individual counseling can fully deal with these needs. The "priesthood of all believers" becomes a recognized fact, with each person helping to open up for his neighbor the way to God.

rnAbsence diminishes mediocre passions and increases great ones, as the wind extinguishes candles and fans fires.

http://www.maxioms.com/maxiom/65335

rnAbsence diminishes mediocre passions and increases great ones, as the wind extinguishes candles and fans fires.

I have learned as much about writing about my people by listening to blues and jazz and spirituals as I ...

http://www.maxioms.com/maxiom/25177

I have learned as much about writing about my people by listening to blues and jazz and spirituals as I have by reading novels.

Feast of the Holy Innocents Christian freedom, in my opinion, consists of three parts. The first: that the consciences of believers, in seeking assurance of their justification before God, should rise above and advance beyond the law, forgetting all law righteousness... The second part, dependent upon the first, is that consciences observe the law, not as if constrained by the necessity of the law, but that freed from the law's yoke they willingly obey God's will... The third part of Christian freedom lies in this: regarding outward things that are of themselves "indifferent", we are not bound before God by any religious obligation preventing us from sometimes using them and other times not using them, indifferently... Accordingly, it is perversely interpreted both by those who allege it as an excuse for their desires that they may abuse God's good gifts to their own lust and by those who think that freedom does not exist unless it is used before men, and consequently, in using it have no regard for weaker brethren... Nothing is plainer than this rule: that we should use our freedom if it results in the edification of our neighbor, but if it does not help our neighbor, then we should forego it.

A spark neglected has often raised a conflagration. [Lat., Parva saepe scintilla contempta magnum excitavit incendium.]

http://www.maxioms.com/maxiom/16022

A spark neglected has often raised a conflagration. [Lat., Parva saepe scintilla contempta magnum excitavit incendium.]

Four things support the world: the learning of the wise, the justice of the great, the prayers of the good, ...

http://www.maxioms.com/maxiom/23618

Four things support the world: the learning of the wise, the justice of the great, the prayers of the good, and the valor of the brave

Inferiority is what you enjoy in your best friends

http://www.maxioms.com/maxiom/20800

Inferiority is what you enjoy in your best friends

A gush of bird-song, a patter of dew, A cloud, and a rainbow's warning, Suddenly sunshine and perfect blue-- ...

http://www.maxioms.com/maxiom/2995

A gush of bird-song, a patter of dew, A cloud, and a rainbow's warning, Suddenly sunshine and perfect blue-- An April day in the morning.

All married women are not wives.

http://www.maxioms.com/maxiom/61567

All married women are not wives.

The sheriff cried on television because he has no money to pay his employees, and food is scarce, ...
