This unification of speaker and listener is actually and extension and enlargement of ourselves, and new knowledge is always gained from this. Moreover, since true listening involves bracketing, a setting aside of the self, it also temporarily involves a total acceptance of the other. Sensing this acceptance, the speaker will fell less and less vulnerable and more and more inclined to open up the inner recesses of his or her mind to the listener. As this happens, speaker and listener begin to appreciate each other more and more, and the duet dance of love is begun again. -M. Scott Peck.

Whatever you do, do with all your might.

http://www.maxioms.com/maxiom/547

Whatever you do, do with all your might.

Do not call the forest that shelters you a jungle.

http://www.maxioms.com/maxiom/23570

Do not call the forest that shelters you a jungle.

Though your threshing floor grind a hundred thousand bushels of corn, not for that reason will your stomach hold more ...

http://www.maxioms.com/maxiom/13206

Though your threshing floor grind a hundred thousand bushels of corn, not for that reason will your stomach hold more than mine. [Lat., Millia frumenti tua triverit area centum. Non tuus hinc capiet venter plus ac meus.]

Proclaim liberty throughout all the land unto all the inhabitants thereof.

http://www.maxioms.com/maxiom/24676

Proclaim liberty throughout all the land unto all the inhabitants thereof.

To show our simple skill, That is the true beginning of our end.

http://www.maxioms.com/maxiom/3963

To show our simple skill, That is the true beginning of our end.

There is one thing more exasperating than a spouse who can cook and won't, and that's a spouse who can't ...

http://www.maxioms.com/maxiom/28048

There is one thing more exasperating than a spouse who can cook and won't, and that's a spouse who can't cook and will.

True glory takes root, and even spreads; all false pretences, like flowers, fall to the ground; nor can any counterfeit ...

http://www.maxioms.com/maxiom/17566

True glory takes root, and even spreads; all false pretences, like flowers, fall to the ground; nor can any counterfeit last long.

Marry your daughters betimes, lest they marry themselves.

http://www.maxioms.com/maxiom/49624

Marry your daughters betimes, lest they marry themselves.

It is a really classic Northwest way to ring in the New Year, that's for sure.
