Abraham, Moses, and David were valiant believers, but compared to Jesus they were timid souls. Consider the human disappointments Jesus endured: rejected in his home town, harassed and persecuted by the religious leaders of his nation, misunderstood by his own family, betrayed with a kiss and abandoned by all his followers. Yet through it all Jesus never complained or rebelled against God; he trusted God even on the cross. Psalm 34 sets forth Jesus' pioneering discovery of God's faithfulness and delivering power. Thus Jesus was "delivered from all his fears" (v 4), "saved ... out of all his troubles" (v 6), "delivered out of all his afflictions" (v 19). Certainly Jesus is our primary teacher and example in trusting God. If David could teach his followers to trust in God, how much more Jesus. As we see the steadfast faith of our Lord through weariness, disappointment, rejection, and even death on a cross, we cannot but be encouraged to believe that God can deliver us through our small trials. That is why we should run the race set before us looking unto Jesus.

Don't believe what your eyes are telling you. Too often, alas, conversion has been the end as well as the beginning, with the result that some Christians have looked back, with mingled delight and wistfulness to a past event that now seems to have diminished relevance to daily living. We can fully understand, then, the appeal of a movement which promises a new dimension of Christian living, there in the New Testament, and now available in everyday experience.

You get paid to impact the world, not be impacted by it.

http://www.maxioms.com/maxiom/21834

You get paid to impact the world, not be impacted by it.

The picture that approaches sculpture nearest Is the best picture.

http://www.maxioms.com/maxiom/45425

The picture that approaches sculpture nearest Is the best picture.

Live your beliefs and you can turn the world around.

http://www.maxioms.com/maxiom/4062

Live your beliefs and you can turn the world around.

I awoke one morning and found myself famous.

http://www.maxioms.com/maxiom/15094

I awoke one morning and found myself famous.

It's about stuff that first makes people laugh, and then makes them think. The work of the group is to keep open the channels of receptiveness through study, discipline, prayer, and self-offering.
