My friend growing up, both of her parents are deaf, so I've always been interested. Through research, children at this age know what they want to say but don't have the language skills to say it yet. The signing bridges that gap and allows them to let their needs be known before they're able to tell us.

Then we just sign it as we say it to them and that allows them to put the word and the sign together. We've had really good success and we all get excited each time they do it.
